The leadership of the New Irish Republican Army agreed to be intervieweb by The Sunday Times. Army Council sent representatives to be interviewed by The Sunday Times. The group recognizes that they cannot defeat the British army but reveals determination to be a clear and present. “Our armed actions serve one purpose. They are symbolic. They are propaganda. They let the world know there is an ongoing conflict in Northern Ireland. As long as you have the British in Ireland and the country remains partitioned, there will be an IRA.” The group was formed in 2012 after three of the four main militant nationalist groups merged, Real IRA, RAAD and Óglaigh na Éireann from Belfast.
