Protest at the Spanish Consulate in Perpignan, Northern Catalonia

More than two hundred people rallied the last evening at the Spanish consulate in Perpignan. In a protest organized by the party Oui au Pays Catalan (Yes to the Catalan Country), Jordi Vera said that "These elected Catalans are being pursued because they have applied their political program. This is an unacceptable political trial in a European democracy.Spain is banning the democratic society. We must denounce it and we call on all the countries of Europe, the French elected representatives and the all-encompassing political world to unite with all those who claim true democracy. The democratic battle must win," says Jordi Vera, "the mobilization must be everywhere, this trial is like a collective punishment of the Catalans, Spain wants to punish us and tell us not to do it again."

Similar meetings were held in several European and American cities as Glasgow, Washington, Mexico, London or Brussels.
