Demonstration in Paris to defend the teaching of lesser used languages

About a thousand people gathered yesterday Saturday, November 30, 2019, in Paris, in front the Ministry of Education. Coming from Brittany, Corsica, Occitania, Alsace, the Basque Country, Northern Catalonia ... The demonstration against the reform of high school and baccalaureate implemented last September by Minister Blanquer and who weakens the learning of the languages of the countries.

South Tyrolean national party keeps a MEP with a 46,8 %

The South Tyrolean Popular Party (SVP) obtained 142,185 votes, up from 138,037. The German speaking right party keeps a MEP with a 46,82 %. Meanwhile the coalition Autonomie per l'Europa (UV, UVP, Alpe, Stella Alpina and Epav) from the Arpitan speaking Aosta Valley cannot win a siege with 17,692 votes. In the Valley the list took a 13,9 %.

Former Val d'Aosta governor for the Union Valdotaine got four and a half years in jail for corruption

Former Val d'Aosta governor Augusto Rollandin,  councillor for the Union Valdotaine on Thursday got four and a half years in jail for corruption. Rollandin was sentenced after a fast-track trial in which the prosecutor had requested six years. Proceedings will now be set in motion to suspend him as councillor.  Rollandin was among seven people probed in an investigation into alleged corruption involving companies the regional administration has stakes in.

Autonomists from Italy met in Friuli

Südtiroler Volkspartei, Slovenska Skupnost, Union Valdôtaine, Partito Autonomista Trentino Tirolese, Patto per l'Autonomia di Friuli Venezia Giulia e Veneto met on March 7th in Udine, Friuli. The round table that took place at Palazzo Belgrade gathered together some of the most important representatives of the autonomy of Northern Italy. At the meeting representatives of five parties agreed to join forces both at state and European levels.

Aosta's Valley autonomous government preparing a bill for the protection of the francoprovençal (arpitan)

Laurent Viérin, councilor for culture in the autonomous government of the Aosta's Valley responded to a question from the Lega Vallée d'Aosta on January 10 about the intentions of the executive regarding to the Arpitan language. Vierin announced that the autonomous government is to prepare a regional law for the protection and valorisation of the francoprovençal (arpitan) of the Aosta's Valley.

Viérin, himself the author of the works in arpitan language, emphasized "the need to launch a strategic initiative for relaunch the 'language of the heart' of the Aosta's Valley: we must work for a regional law for its protection and its improvement - because laws are the means to protect the principles "and ensure that its development Not only is it trusted by the sensitivity of individual administrators, but it is the collective heritage of all" through a normative text, "which codifies the principles and measures of recognition, as well as the most sensitive issues, such as spelling, which extend the role of language assistance services, whith some actions by sharing training courses and using new technologies". The deputies of the Lega Vallée d'Aosta announced "the presentation of initiatives to expand, the use of the language even in the meetings of the council (parliament).

Pays d'Aoste Souverain calls for a single autonomous candidate for the European elections

The political movement Pays d'Aoste Souverain published its appeal to the autonomous Valdostan parties in view of the European elections. The text recalls what happened during the regional elections of May 2018:

"In the month of May we asked Autonomists to present themselves under a single banner, we presented a document that was not shared, we made a round table without any result. We abstained, we did not go to vote. After eight months the Valle d'Aosta has another chance, yet another opportunity to make Europe aware of the value and identity of a people, a people that has centuries of history, a people with a language of their own, a people that does not look at the color of their skin or family surname, a people that loves and respects its own land ". So Pays d'Aoste Souverain asks for "A single candidate, a candidate of the people who bear testimony in Brussels of a Valle d'Aosta that aspires to total sovereignty, a vehicle of freedom for any man born free.".
