Hundreds March to Honor The killing of 3 Voluntary Army for the Independence of Sicily Members

The rally was convoked by Comitato Vespro 2019 in Randazzo on June 16th. It was in memory of the commander Antonio Canepa, and to remember the massacre of "Murazzu Ruttu". The Vespro 2019 Committee, a movement that brings together 28 associations, independentist and autonomous Sicilian parties and that last March 30 had protagonist of a large regional event in Palermo.

The marchers claimed the independence heroes Antonio Canepa (founder and commander of EVIS-Voluntary Army for the Independence of Sicily), Giuseppe Lo Giudice and Carmelo Rosano killed in an ambush set by a patrol of Italian carabinieri on 17 June 1945 in the locality of Murazzu Ruttu, right in the place where the march started. Many flags of Sicily, continue the choirs that speak of a free and independent Sicily.
"Autonomy is continually betrayed by the Italian political parties (from which the committee distances itself), and the Sicilians have become aware of the fact that the only way is independence. This new appointment is outlined as a continuation of a journey towards a precise goal: to give the Sicilians what they deserve and that is to live with dignity in their own land! ”Says Fonso Genchi of the Vespro 2019 Committee. "The massacre has numerous obscure points, it is covered by state secrecy. It was a real ambush and not a gunfight following a roadblock and there are some facts that make this thesis true. It would be good to return to facts to reveal the truth and make it known. Canepa's political thinking and social vision are absolutely current. He in his booklet Sicily to the Sicilians spoke of Crispi as a traitor, so even today there are Sicilians who adhere to Italian parties and we experience this paradox on our skin with its nefarious consequences "says Antonio Fricano of the Vespro 2019 committee" .
"After 74 years from that tragic event, the Sicilians are again in the streets to affirm that the Independence is the only solution to the evils that afflict Sicily. For us, remembering the commander Antonio Canepa, together with those two young guerrillas, means honoring their figures and bringing their memory to life in a process of building a popular and combative independence movement” affirmed Antonio Fricano of the Vespro 2019 Committee.

New IRA claims responsibility for car bomb attempt

The New IRA has claimed responsibility for an attempt to murder a police officer with a car bomb in Northern Ireland last week. The republican dissident group said in a statement on Thursday June 5th night that it planted the device that was discovered under the officer’s car at Shandon Park golf club in Belfast on Saturday. It was defused without causing casualties.
“We were unlucky this time but we only have to be lucky once,” said the statement, which was passed to the Irish News using a codeword.

“We are confident the device would have exploded if it was not for the level terrain it had travelled on,” said the statement, which referred to the group as the “IRA”.

Two cars linked to the attempted bomb attack were found on fire in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast early on Saturday June 1st. One of the cars had Dublin licence plates, prompting a cross-border investigation.

The New IRA emerged in 2012 via a merger of several groups opposed to the peace process, including the Real IRA. Police believe it has several hundred active supporters, a mix of former Provisional IRA members and new, young recruits.
